Inspired by SIBA's Wheat Beer challenge in 2001 we produced a 4.8% ABV beer using 40% Wheat Malt and 60% Malted Barley. To underline the continental heritage of this beer we uncharacteristically brewed with choicest Hallertau hops from Germany. This award winning brew has been described as 'wheat and sweet'. It is light in colour with a moreish dry palate. Show Less

Cask halfpint at The White Hart, Crawley. 4.8%. Copper colour. Moderate aroma, some toffee and fruit. Tingling hops in the fairly fruity flavour, also decent malts. Very pleasant to drink.

Bottle. Light amber with a thin bubbling head which quickly flattens out.
Aroma of hops and light grain.
Mild caramel upon tasting. Some hints of spice.
Moderate body. Innocuous carbonation.
Remotely German.

Tasted by a pint recently at the Royal Oak, the only Harvey's house in London. This is also my first time to bump into this seasonal brew outside of my previous base, E. Sussex.
A: pours a bright pale-copper hue, with great clarity; coming with little beer head and low carbonation--looking very "Harvey's"~~
S: earthy & sulphury hops upfront, slightly metallic as well, plus a little coriander seeds and caramely sweetness, on top of rather weak input of wheat-malts. Not as fresh and pronounced as I remember from my past pints... maybe not that fresh after all?
T: prevailing upfront are bitter-sweet caramel malts plus a sour-sweet and oily banana-touch "like" a weizen... a dryish edge of low-starch grains and a tangy mouthfeel reminiscent of lemon-peel tea linger at the back, felt clearly esp. b/w the teeth as well as deep down the tongue.
M&D: very smooth texture, but somehow lacking necessary, healthy fizzy support... This is a medium-bodied weizen-like beer, easy to quaff, but nowhere near the quality as I remember it by from my previous Sussex days. Guess it doesn't travel well or I was a bit late to get a nice fresh pint at this great pub~~ Worth a try anyway, even if you're not nr. Lewes...

Pours a crystal clear gold with some red hints. Thin ring of white head and only a hint of carbonation.
Aroma of cracked grain, buttery diacteyl notes and a hint of peaty malt.
Flavor of wheat bread, some roasted malt and a small hint of nuttiness and a resin and oily hop finish.
Mouthfeel is a very gritty and soemehat vapid heavy water feel.
Drinkability is very average. This beer just doesn't seem to belong in my bottle is my guess.

Quite nice, but a bit sweet, had this cask conditioned in Lewes, home of harveys brewery, hints of spice, cloves, and even abit of bubblegum and banana, don't think it quite tastes to German, finish is a bit too hoppy to be anything like a German wheat i think.
