Deep garnet red/brown with a thin light tan head and a steely, coffee/chocolatey/roasty aroma. No major hop presence in the nose.
Ahh... Roast coffee and dark chocolate flavor notes abounding. Very little graininess, but a solid, malty background with some iron-like flavors (hops?). The bitterness is in balance - never calls attention to itself, it's just there. The finish dries out a bit, with coffee and cocoa in the back of the mouth at the end. This is a good (not world-class, but highly quaffable) Porter, and a favorite of mine at this pub.
