A - Black body topped by head of light to medium tan standing about a third of an inch tall. The head faded at a medium pace but leaves a nice thin remnant that covers the surface and the edge of the glass.
S - Slight chocolate, coffee and subtle anise.
T - This brew offers a great combination of coffee and dark cocoa. It has a little bit of a black licorice edge that gives it a unique character.
M - The feel is a bit watery but it has a smooth wash. The beggining is soft and supple with the middle being only slightly abbrassive. Just enough to bring out the black licorice. The milk is doing its part by really blending the feel and making all transitions easy.
~ This is a good beer. I look forward to trying it again the next time I make it up to Wausau. This time my friend Eric offered me a growler as payment for doing some work on his bike. I, "will work for beer."

While I am normally an Imperial Stout guy, this milk stout really piqued my interest. The color was a cloudy dark brown, I could only see the "brown" by holding it up to a light, and still I could only see th cloudy brown in the top half an inch of beer. The smell is very dry, but hints at coffee.
The taste is very good, like the smell, it's a dryer stout than an imperial, but the milk really makes it complex AND flavorful. Very tasty.
The mouthfeel is a bit thin, but once again, I am an imperial stout guy and I like beers that eat like a meal.
The best part of this beer is that this is the first stout that I could session all night long, and not compromise on taste. I've had a few stouts that were anything but, but this is a stout while being very sessionable. Well done beer.

Very dark brown to black in color. I suppose we could call it mahogany. Light rim of foam with what I would call a beige color. Some lacing on the surface. The nose is mildly smoky with some coffee notes. Very nice to sniff. The flavor is true to the nose with a gentle flavor of coffee and some smoke. The finish is lightly smoky as is the aftertaste. Normally I would hesitate to add I beer I liked this much to not skew the rankings, but my wife agreed that this beer was "special." We both thought it to be exceptional.
