On tap at the brewery in Wausau.

A: mahogany color, clear, beautiful color, nice creamy head
S: mild but nice, malty nose, roasted grain
T: not traditional Belgium style dubbel with yeast but still decent, a bit gritty and plummy sweet, approaching style but not there
M: sweeter and cloying

Dark brown with a coppery cast. short head but leaves some lace. smells and tastes sweet, with some vague dark fruits and a slight vinous quality. needs more spice, a lot more. agree with the reviewer who said this is basically training wheels dubbel. drinkable and easygoing, but the sweetness becomes too much and needs a stronger counterpoint, and more carbonation to go with the medium plus body.
abv is 7% per the brewery.

A - Dark copper body with a thin tan head.

S - Deep toffee and pungent plum aromas.

T - The body of the flavor consists of a malty toffee taste along with a spicy alcohol presence.

M - The feel is sticky, soft, silky and smooth all in one.

~ This is a good, drinkable brew. I'd certainly recommend it to my friends.

7% ABV as reported on the beer board at the bar.

A: dark ruby red, served up in a nice tulip glass. Nice head, sticky lace windows.

S: Dark fruits, sweet malt.

T: Raisins, figs, a bit of a grassy hop note at the finish. Belgian sugars are there, and upfront.

M: Meduim, to med heavy. Quite sweet and sticky. Nice.

D: I had a problem keeping the glass on the bar. The sweetness is addictive, and the 7% is managable. a well done dubbel!

Dark, nearly opaque tan in the glass with some glints of burnt orange, and, I guess, scarlet. The head is a heathy, lacy inch or so and endures a while.
Generally doughy, aromatically, with notions of toast, and a small grapey fruitiness. Additional fruits can be guessed at, as well as some peppery spiciness, but don't quite develop explicitly.
The dough follows through in to the mouth, along with a more focused and develop toasty nuttiness. The fruitiness too is more acute, but still not exact in its rendering. Grapes, plums, and melons are suggested. Some peppery esters, but the yeast's contributions are tame. This mingles with a congruent, dry grass hop note as it finishes clean and dry. Alcohol is a nonentity.
Medium bodied with a moderate, steady carbonation. Despite being on the plain side, its rapidly drinkable.
This is somewhat of a "training wheels" dubbel, that bears more than a passing similarity to an American Brown Ale. Nonetheless, it is tasty and enjoyable.

Aroma: yeasty, bready/biscuity malts, raisins, pears, figs, a hint of hops, some chocolate character, spicy notes, alcohol

Appearance: medium brown with some ruby lights, kinda murky, medium fluffy tan head, some Belgian lace on the glass. obviously as the growler disappeared, head retention also disappeared.

Flavor: nice sweet malts, yeasty, bready, almost toasty. fruits like pears, fig, plum, even banana. alcohol warmth. some chocolate and caramel. slight spice (peppery, hoppy) hop bitterness very slight. Balanced to malt.

Mouthfeel: medium body, warming alcohol, medium carbonation, not bitter into the finish but not sweetly cloying. I wanted a little more body and silkiness.

Overall I was pretty happy, there's a alot going on and its a good example of style. I found it very drinkable, enough for me to bring back the growler for others to try.

Dark red to brown in color. The head consists of a rim of foam around the edge of the glass that seems to cling stubbornly to the glass itself. I would say "sticky" head. There is a little lacing on the surface. The nose is strong with "brown" malts, or malts that are usually detected in a brown ale. The attack is gently malty with a touch of hops. The malt seems to build in the mouth and eventually runs the hops out of your mouth before finishing in a sweet and malty manner. Pretty decent. I would probably rate it higher if the appearance, smell and mouthfeel were more noteworthy. Flavor and drinkability are definitely good.
