Pours hazy golden, low bubbly head, low retention.
Smells of banana, wheat, smoke and grains.
Banana and clove in the taste, laced with lots of refreshing citrus. Caramel malts and some heavy grains. Spicy with nice pepper and some minty herbal notes (faint pine also). Herbal mildly bitter finish.
A bit fizzy for my taste, lifting up the booze, not exactly covered nicely. Still nice and warm, and it doesn't linger for long (there's mostly a nice sugar-covered banana chip aftertaste).
A decent weizenbock, not incredible in any way though.

From the culturbrauer9 bockbier box.

Pours a murky orange with no carbonation visible. Fluffy white head that reduced to nothing after a while and left no lacing.

Typical German style Weizenbier aroma of clove and ripe banana with cloves dominating, also some caramel malt.

Taste follows nose with banana, clove and caramel malt with a typical Weizen acidity and malt sweetness.

Evervescence as in a Weizenbier but with some warming alcohol, which makes it less refreshing than a Weizen but better suited for the cold months of the year.

This is an almost perfect Winter beer for the Weizenbier lover. The caramel malt and the warming alcohol is quite appropriate for the season. It is also pretty complex but not totally harmonious. Anyway, well done guys from the Zillertal.

330ml bottle, the last of a Best of Bock Austrian mix-pack, which sits languishing on the shelves of Alberta liquor stores as summer shoves Spring 2012 offerings into the dustbin of bottleshop history.

This beer pours a hazy, cloudy medium golden amber hue, with two generous fingers of tight, baking cake-ish, and foamy off-white head, which leaves a few ambitious imperial streaks of lace around the glass as things duly settle.

It smells of sweet wheat grain, sort of breakfast cereal in essence, mild neutered citrus, pithy banana, understated caramel in an unusual guest capacity, and earthy noble hops. The taste is nicely subtle, but still well in control semi-sweet wheat grain, slightly soused banana puree, a bit of yeasty remnants, and very soft musty and earthy hops.

The carbonation is quite demure, but present enough to provide adequate structure, the body a steady middleweight, and slyly smooth. It finishes off-dry, the wheaty, malty sweetness strutting its stuff, and the Chiquita goodness flying under the radar, as the elevated ABV makes some very subtle ingress.

Wow, I thought it would never happen - after the first half-dozen one-sided booze bombs from this 'best of' pack, I was set to give up, and now I've been proven mostly wrong. This is a nicely enjoyable Weizenbock, balanced, tasty, and adept at hiding its alcohol, an apparently rare and admirable trait, and the only one of its immediate ilk that I'd venture to try again.

330ml bottle poured into tulip 19/5/12

A hazy amber that looks like its glowing, two fingers of cream colored foam hangs around for a few seconds leaving no lace

S dry cereal, banana, a little toffee and earthy hops, orange, smells pretty good with none of the 7.8% detected

T some candied fruit to go along with what I smell, just a little leafy and rather enjoyable

M fairly full for the color with tiny pin prick bubbles giving it a creamy feel, no heat and a nice bruised banana after taste lingers for a while, no complaints here

O pretty solid taste and smell and feels great, not sure where the booze is hiding this one could hurt you

finally a good beer out of my overpriced box of bock, I could drink another one of these no problems
