This is a restaurant more than brewpub, and the beers brewed by Big House are, upon inspection of other tables, not necessarily the draw for many patrons. The name "grill" is apt; the food is American big: meat, meat, meat. Wins burger awards.
The decor is dark and mass produced restaurant booths and tables and chairs make up the furniture. I also seem to have less fun at brewpubs where you have to go through miles of sprawl-like blocks with malls and chain fast food restaurants and chain motels. I like my pubs to have a lived-in unique feel and the building, decor and surrounding environs of the Big House Grill make it lose points. I guess what I'm saying is you can skip this place unless you have to go to every single brewpub in the world (which I do.)

Located at the former Lexington Grille on Wolf Rd. Take Exit 2 from the Northway, head north on Wolf Rd, go past the mall & McDonalds, it's on the left about 1/4 mile past McDonalds.
Comfy, with seating in the bar and in two rooms out back, and outside during the summer. Smallish bar, and a single batch brewery in a small room in the front of the building. Most of the beer here hails from the Big House in downtown Albany, with the brewery here used for small and/or experimental batches. Not a very beer-oriented atmosphere, although the bartenders do know the beers pretty well and aren't averse to beer chat. Never seen a brewer here. Most of the brews are of decent or better quality - as with the Big House, stick with the wheats, browns, and porters.
The food here is pretty good - a clear step up from bar food, with really good wraps. A friend used to swear by some of the pasta dishes, but he hasn't been there in a year or so 'cause our office moved. Service is usually good, occasionally slow.
