The 2nd beer tasted at the 2007 Sheffield Beer Festival, by a half-pint with a gravity pour.
A: golden in colour, coming with a fluffy white foam and fine streams of microscopic fizz.
S: a little citrus-zesty and flowery at the same time, giving a pronounced nose of aromatic hops; the malt base is relatively light, in a sense almost like lager malt in terms of aroma, while an assertively sourness as of citrus also stays loyally behind. Overall, delightfully fruity and hoppy, albeit quite straight-forward.
T: slightly sharp lime-zest and tartness as of white grape juice gradually gives way to a mildly grainy maltiness and deep-running bitterness like grapefruit-peels, laced by a little hint of ginger as well, leaving the dry palate to intensify by stealth... The lengthy aftertaste is bone-dry on the palate, while a wee touch of malt lingers in the form of aroma along with aromatic hops.
M&D: light-medium bodied, creamy-softly carbonated, tasting just great for a session blond Bitter, and the depth of hops & the whole flavour structure are quite phenomenal... A true worthy winner of Supreme Champion SIBA 2007.
