A 500ml bottle with a BB of Oct 2013. Picked up recently from a supermarket. Described on the label as a Christmas ale, it features a dour-looking Scrooge.

Poured into a straight pint glass. A clear coppery-amber colour with good carbonation. Forms a small, off-white head of foam that lasts for a minute or so before dissipating. Aroma of caramel malt with a strange fruity, yeasty note that's hard to place. Hints of stewed leaves, earthiness, weak spice and a very faint vinegary twang in the background. Dry and somewhat harsh. Not very nice.

Tastes of caramel malt with a dry finish. Notes of watery spice, fruity yeast, stewed leaves, earthiness and a mild sourness in the background. Surprisingly harsh, with an acrid sulphurous quality. A mild, dry bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with pleasant carbonation but a thin, insubstantial body. Rather astringent, with an aftertaste of weak malt, bizarre yeast esters and harsh stewed leaves.

In a word - vile. This may well be the shittest Christmas beer I've tried, and I've had a few that were poor. The aroma and taste possess an odd fruitiness to them that is difficult to define - possibly yeast esters or maybe some sort of spice addition? Who knows. The flavour is exceptionally harsh and dry, with an unpleasant stewed leaf character. Weak malt notes and little depth or roundedness. Badly flawed in its execution, and most certainly not the seasonal treat that you might have expected. If you see this beer, run in the opposite direction. Bah Humbug!

A medium copper colour with a thin bubbly head that turns to a slightly patchy lacing after a couple of minutes; it is slightly off white in colour too.

Pretty off-putting aroma from this one, some strange malts hitting you right away that seem quite earthy with some biscuit or cereal coming through along with them.

Some very weird malts and a strange, almost skunk like taste following this. The taste isn't much better than the smell with a sort of nutty and biscuit taste. This one was a real struggle to drink though and just didn't taste quite right.

Medium body, slightly spicy with some skunk and strange, unidentifiable bitter finish and medium carbonation.

Another very poor Christmas beer. This one just taste bad and had a very strange malt and biscuit taste that didn't go down well at all.
