The colour is dark wine red-brown, almost black. The finger thick compact brown head is compact, it sinks slowly, leaving a fine lacing.
The smell is very fresh and malty with los of roasted notes. I couldn't trace much hops at all.
The taste is... lovely. Soft somewhat sweet malt with notes of ripe apples is complemented with a light very clean bitterness. The aftertaste is medium strong with a delicate bitterness and notes of nuts and cream.
The carbonation is medium strong; small very fresh bubbles. The liquid is light.
An extremely drinkable schwarzbier with just the right amount of character: This is a great session beer!
