The liquid is clear; the colour gold. The finger thick head is off-white. Lots of lacing.
The smell is hoppy with grains and bitterness. American hops, some citric fruits. It is relatively mild.
The bitterness in the first sips is powerful, but not aggressive. White citric peels, grapefruits. Some caramel and butterscotch are present. Growing bitter notes and a fine sweetness. Medium to light body. The aftertaste is malty with some herbs and fruit flavoured candy. White peels and lemon curd in the finish, which more or less lacks bitterness.
The carbonation is light, the large bubbles fresh. The liquid is smooth.
A mix of American and English pale ale that lets the malt speak for itself. It is highly drinkable and quite light, I would have guessed 3.8 rather than 4.8 %.
