Stopped in here to try the beer and get something to eat. Hostess took us upstairs to a smoke-free table by a large window overlooking the street where Independence Day celebrations were going on. They had in their menu a list of five of their beers, but waitress told us they only had two available, both lighter. We ordered a variety of traditonal food that was excellent, including two kinds of dumplings, caviar, & sausage made there. Waitress was enthusiastic if a bit limited in English. Beer was decent. Got some souvenir beer glasses. Bill was a tad steep. Large comfortable place.

Went to the Chateau Brewpub on a hot, muggy day in Kiev. It is located along the main shopping avenue in Kiev. Menus are available in English and they have AC. They have 4 of their beers that are available and brewed on site. They have a silver, gold, platinum, and dark. Didn't know what style they were, and the waitress didn't either, so she asked if I wanted to meet with the brewer, and I received an impromptu tour with the head brewer, Pavel. Was able to try a couple of beers off the holding tanks. They are all pale European lagers (except the dark) made with traditional methods. Very fresh and good especially considering what is generally available in Kiev. Pavel was a great host. They also have a few other beers on tap as well as bottled though almost all the same style. They have a number of other non-beer alcoholic beverages as well.
Didn't try the food, but it appeared to be upscale pub food. Service was average for Kiev, which is slow compared to American standards.
Definitely worth a stop especially if you want fresh beer.
