Review from notes taken on 6/4/10 at the brewpub.

Served in a pint glass. Seriously, a pint glass worth of ~10% barleywine. Appears a light orange color with a thin cap of white foam. The head receeds fairly fast leaving a bit of lace about the glassware. Very sweet malty aroma with this brew coupled with a presence of solvent alcohol in the background. The taste is quite alcohol forward with a pretty intense warming factor, grainy malt sweetness and a ligh touch of hops. It is a medium to heavy bodied brew with a light levelbof carbonation.

Overall not bad. This really turned out to be quite a kick in the pants as far as how it looked and was served verses what it tastes like. I was expecting a weak light BW buy ended up pleasantly surprised.

A - A rather bright golden body...I saw the head as it was poured but it quickly disappeared...there was hardly a ring left around the top...not much lacing

S - Wow this one is hot...they said it was aged for a little but the alcohol really shines through on the nose...hidden under the alcohol are some sweet, fruity notes

T - This is a little better...the alcohol is completely hidden in the taste...the malts and fruits stand out in the taste and make this brew rather sweet...almost the opposite of the nose where it tastes like it has been aged...grapes and apples stand out on the fruity notes...a touch of caramel/toffee malts mix in well

M - Medium bodied...bordering on light with how big this beer is...goes down smooth with no alcohol kick

D - They serve this in 10 oz. goblets given the 10% but other than the nose you would not be able to tell this one is 10%...the aged sweetness really steps in and helps...but I would be careful
