While I suspect the Munich Dunkel may be a seasonal, I hope the folks at Golden Avalanche keep this around all year. This impressive lager poured a deep, dark amber color with a relatively small head and little visible carbonation overall. The strong malty sweetness was very evident in the odor, but I also detected some floral hints. The taste was very distinguished in its maltiness, smooth and compelling. I enjoyed the hint of bitterness every now and then, too, especially near the end of the swallow. The mouthfeel was pretty typical for this dark lager, maybe slightly heavier than expected. On the whole, the Munich Dunkel was a very welcome surprise on my trip to the Tavern after class, and a beer I'll enjoy over and over, however long it remains on tap.

A very good brew by the Golden Avalanche Brewing Company. One thing I will say about them is that they are focused on brewing good German style biers. This is no exception. A very deep and rich dunkel color welcomes you as the pint sits before you. A very warm and hearty brew at the nose, this one drinks with all of the slightly sweet malty goodness that one should expect. It went very well with the pub grub offered at Kutztown Tavern. If you are in the area, this one is a must-try while it lasts. Prost!
