Round 2 (and 3!!) with lunch on 02JUN11 was the Spring Bock. Love the style... A pint was $4.95 during this visit.
This offering was a clear, medium golden liquid. Steady carbo meandered topside towards a thin, fine 1/2" white head. It ebbs to a minute layer, with nice lacing left behind. Aroma was a little mild, but displayed some bready malt and florality. Body was medium-plus, and it was quite smooth on the tongue.
Light sweetness is layered on the palate, with some bread and a little toasty malt present. Some floral fruitiness comes into play, with touches of pear and green apple enticing the tastebuds. I really enjoyed this, and it reminded me quite a bit of Glissade.
Prosit!!

A - A light amber body...basically no head when it came to the table...very light lacing
S - A good whiff of caramel malts...a faint hop presence in the background
T - Right with the nose...a great up front malt flavor...the hop bitterness at the end was a little off for me...but all around a good body
M - Medium body...smooth
D - This is a nice seasonal from the Tavern...it is definitely a lighter version of their winter bock

This beer was poured into the glass a crystal clear amber color that seemed to be very carbonated. It produced a white head that was dense and foamy, that lasted for a few moments then fell to a simple ring on the edges. The aromas that came out were of fruit (apples, pears), sweet-rich malt, flowers and hops. All aromas seemed to be on the sweeter side and all blended with the malt taking the forefront. The tastes were dominated by malts,(rich and sweet), fruits, flowers, hops and some light citrus (real faint). Light to medium bodied and left very little aftertaste behind. Over all flavor of the sip - was semi sweet malt with a tad of hops. Decently complex and flavorful. An easy drink and decent representative for the style.

A lighter, somewhat fruitier version of the Winter Bock, this beer was light amber in color. Active carbonation was present, and a small but accomodating head topped the glass. A full malty smell dominated, but some hints of fruit and a bit of hop presence was noticeable. The taste is a little more complex than Golden Avalanche's Youngallen's Lager, with a lighter mouthfeel. Definitely suitable for the warmer spring weather, this bock goes down easily, and is just rich enough to enjoy its complexities. Another solid seasonal from GABCO.
