I am so excited to have a brewpub in the north shore area that I am tempted to give it all 5s...but I must judge it fairly, as it does have some room for improvement.
Nondescript place on the main road looked so dark I thought it might be closed despite the open sign in the window. The door opened up to one longish room with green-painted brick and dark wood interior. A long bar runs down one side and there are a few tables toward the back including one built for billiards. Two big chalkboards announce the beers on tap that were brewed on premise. On my first visit they had a "summer ale", a Wit, an alt, a Belgian IPA, an American stout, and a Tripel. In addition, they offer two macro beers, like Miller lite or PBR or something else ubiquitous and boring. I went on a tuesday night, so the place was expectedly empty, with about 4 other people there for most of the time my party was there. Two TVs had the sox on, and there was some excellent rock and roll playing over the sound system. Very relaxed vibe, and the bartender was friendly and attentive. We were even given free peanuts, which was much appreciated.
As for beers, I was disappointed. I tried the summer, the wit, the Belgian IPA and the stout. They were all sweeter and flatter than they should have been. Perhaps they are still tweaking their serving system, but even for someone like me who doesn't mind low carbonation, these felt a little lifeless. There was some flavor in the beers, but none of it had the chance to develop as it should have if the beer was drier and livelier. I feel like they have a lot of potential, especially since they like to do odd styles (an Alt and a tripel on at the same time!), but they need to get the beers into better shape.
Anyway, the place is relaxed, affordable, interesting, and friendly. I will be going back to hang out, and I am sure the beers will improve over time.

A: Kinda like drinking a beer in your buddie's basement, which could be seen as a good thing but in my oppinion if I want to drink somehwere like that I actually just go to my friends basement. I think everything was a little rough aroudn the edges too (no real cash register, cd player was basically on the bar) because they just opened recently. There was a pool table in the back too which is a plus.
Q: I tried the stout and the wheat ale while I was there. Both were pretty good I enjoyed the stout better, but both were on the sweet/syrupy side.
S: Service was really good. Only had one bartender on, but she was very attentive.
Selection: It looked like they had about 10 or so tap set up, but there were only 3 beers on tap when I went there. They definetly need to step up the selection.
V: Pints were only four bucks I believe.
Not a bad place overall wouldve liked to see alot more beers on tap, but I realize they just opened recently so I'd like to give this a try in a couple more months when theyre up and running.
