A - Pours a slightly cloudy amber-red color with a finger of frothy white head atop. The head fades down to a thin layer leaving behind some nice lace on the sides of the glass.

S - Aroma is a mix of some sweet apple aromas and some light bready malts. There is also a bit of hops and some spices in the background.

T - Starts off with some sweet malts and a bit of spices and citrus hop flavor. Through the middle, a bit of bready flavors and some stronger spices come through. The finish is a mix of some sweet caramel malts and some citrus hop flavor that lingers nicely.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels very smooth and crisp. Nice lingering sweet and citrus flavors.

D - Very drinkable. Smooth and refreshing. Nice malt and hop balance, with some nice grain flavors mixed in.

A: Pours a dark amber body and a small fast receding white head. No lacing.

S: A nice and sweet aroma of caramel & grainy malts, nuts, subtle noble hops. Very pleasent.

T: Equally smooth and balance like the nose. Caramel malts upfront followed by brown sugar sweetness & grains. Getting some dark fruits almost. Finishes a slightly bitter.

M: Lean texture that's borderline watery, medium body & carbonation. Very smooth.

O: This is my favorite one at Davidson's. Really smooth & easy to drink. I know it's a seasonal, but they had it on-tap this week. Definitely worth getting a growler of.

A: pours a very nice amber color with a finger of frothy head that quickly dissipates, leaves a small amount of lacing

S: great smelling brew, nice sweetness dominates with a backing of nuts and slight malts

T: very nice malt notes with a slight nut backing, very little sweetness is detected in the taste

D/M: slight carbonation tingle, smooth across the pallet, leaves a slight dryness across the tongue, drinks light and finishes the same

Just a note: this beer is not retired, its just seasonal and is their Oktoberfest beer.

I got it on tap in an Imperial pint glass. Poured dark mohogany brown with a reddish hue. 1 finger creamy head that left a ring and almost no lacing.

Smell is grainy, with oatmeal, barley, and caramel malts. An overarching sediment aroma was a little funky.

Taste is malt-forward, but balanced with some subtle hops on the back. Some whole grain bread notes, toasted caramel malts, and a hint of dark berries. The taste is good for the style, well balanced and less malty than other alt biers. However, there is a bit of brick flavor that brings it down a peg.

Mouthfeel is fairly fizzy and clean, with a nice feel up front, but a watery swallow.

This is an altbier I can have a few of, and at 5.2% it wouldnt hurt too bad.

Had this on tap at the brewpub after a round of golf with the old man. Couldn't help but laugh at the name being a beer-computer geek. I was told by Rick that his 17 year old son actually brewed this one himself. Uh, is that legal?...who cares, this was a damn good beer. I normally don't really enjoy this style, but I had to give it a try.

Pours a somewhat murky dark amber hue with a nice one finger fluffy white head. Stickiness is great, holds on to the sides all over. Smell is a mild wheat with a nice caramel malt mixed in there as well. Some grassy notes in the nose as well. Very clean smell, quite enjoyable. Dark wheat flavors on the tongue up front with a nice mild hop tingle. Sweet caramel malt finish with the wheat flavor present throughout. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a fair amount of carbonation. Nice and creamy as it flows over the tongue. Went down quite easily. Definitely glad I gave this style a try again. I had the Southampton Secret Ale and unfortunately since then didn't try another Altbier until now because I thought it was extremely lacking. Looks like Rick's son is following in his footsteps.
