My wife & I were on vacation in New Zealand yesterday, and we tend to make our vacations into wine and beer tours of the particular country or city we are in. This was one of our many stops.
This beer pours a hazy, yellowish golden color with heavy carbonation and a frothy, white head that dissipates slowly to a thin lacing. 3.5/5 The aroma is typical of the style with banana and clove readily prevalent, along with a bit of white bread and a slight spiciness acting as undertones to the yeasty esters. 4.25/5 The flavor profile follows the aroma to a T with banana and clove dominating, but with the banana not being overly sweet or cloying. White bread and a coriander spiciness act as undertones, with just a bit of bitterness on the back end smoothing things out a bit. The bitterness does not linger on the palate after swallowing. 4/5 This is a smooth and creamy beer that has an initial carbonation burn but quickly transitions into a medium body. It is wet and coating throughout the entire profile, with no lingering mouthfeel. 3.5/5 This is a good hefeweizen that is not crazy high in terms of banana and clove. Many chefs overdo it in regard to these two flavor notes, but not this beer. It is well balanced and very enjoyable to drink. 3.75/5

This poured a cloudy straw color and a light white head. It smelled of banana, clove, yeast and bubblegum. It tasted of banana bread with clove spices over some wheat/yeastiness with a hint of cereal/biscuit malt. Nothing out of the ordinary in this one, but a good standard hefeweizen to drink on a hot sunny day.

Sampled in tulip, sadly I don't have the batch label, but each batch is slightly different.
Appearance- A light wheat color, a cloudy gold with a some "floaties." A light head and low carbonation. Smell- A slight nose of yeast with some banana and wheat. No real spices or citrus in this batch. Taste- A muted banana and yeast feel this time. It is inline with what the nose indicated. Nothing really pops out or asserts itself. The flavors are there and really enjoyable but if only they were moderate instead of suppressed. Excellent Mouthfeel and Drinkability though.

Pours a bright hazy gold color with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Very fruity nose of banana, tart citrus, and sour apple, with some wheat and yeast as well. Strong sour citrus taste over sweet wheat base with lots of phenols and muted banana and clove at the end. Pretty flat and thin body that comes off a little watery. This one kind of drives me crazy... moments of greatness mixed with disappointment. Thankfully croucher provides the batch number on the bottle so I think I'll give this another try with a different batch.
