Obtained this growler through a trade with a most generous trader, hoppymeal. Thank you very much D. This beauty landed fresh and even chilled...full of carbonation. Shared with my Dad, it pours a deep, darkish chestnut red with a finger plus of tan-khaki head that retains well. Nice red highlights when held to the light, some sticky clinging lace as you drink.
The nose has a spruce like woodsy spice to it...very pleasant Juniper to be exact. A full juniper berry aroma that blends beautifully with the malts thay used. A very unique, unusual and good smelling brew here.
The taste does not disappoint either. A full malt backing that's not to sweet for the crushed Juniper berries to overtake, with a pungent, sprucy tang, so too speak. The hops are there, but the Juniper runs the show in a most subtle, yet dominant way. A bit sappy and resinous feel to the mouth. Refreshing spruce like aftertaste as well. The 8% ABV is not so noticable in the taste or the smell, but it sure creeps up on you.
Good healthy body coupled with good carbonation throughout the entire growler, a unique and tasty flavor made this stuff disappear in no time. My Dad enjoyed it every bit as much as I did. Would definetly enjoy this one again, cheers!
