Pours ½ finger of beige head. Color is black.
Aroma: Roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, cocoa, grassy/earthy hops, vanilla, and coffee all show.
Taste: Fairly similar to the nose. Roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa, creamy flavors, grassy hops, light citrus in the background, vanilla, and coffee.
Mouthfeel: Roasted, bitter, dry, and creamy. Medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Ends dry and roasted.
Overall, this was a fairly interesting beer. I like some of the flavors here and the hop profile managed to stick out despite all the roasted flavors and malts. I enjoyed this one. Decent drinkability.

Very syrupy mouthfeel...aroma doesn't jump out much (some mild roasted cofee beans) but the taste is big on espresso/java/bitter dark chocolate....hopped with simcoe...I love simcoe in IPA's and pale ale's (juicy tropical fruity flavor)....it doesn't give off the same vibe here but it adds a definite bitterness.
Big body....the ABV is not noticable on the taste...really espresso like feel to this...
Solid effort...pushes the boundaries a little which I like. Good winter brew.

A: Dark brown color with some light penetration. The head was brown and lasted for quite a while, the lacing was quite good; there were foamy steps left along the whole glass.
S: The smell was rather boring. Some dark roasted malts (no chocolate or coffee) and some toffee and caramel like notes. The hops were piny, fruity and citrus smelling.
T: The flavour of the malts were roasted, smoky an a bit like toffee. The beer had a nice hoppy aftertaste which offset the dark flavour of the body nicely.
M: The mouthfeel was average, overall too syrupy. Nothing too special going on here. The drink-ability was decent; I don*t know the ABV, but I had a buzz going after just a pint.
