Pours dark brown, almost black, with a large, creamy, tan head.
Nose shows candied figs, nutmeg, orange marmalade, golden syrup and crystallised ginger. Delightful.
Flavours don't quite work so well, coming off disjointed. A mix of nutmeg/cinnamon with accompanying herbal bitterness alongside alcohol, brown sugar and roasted malt. Its almost as if you can taste each different component separately, rather than a complimentary blend of flavours.
Could use more carbonation and a more syrupy body.

Dark brown colour with a small, smooth, short-lasted tan head. Poor head retention.
Mildly herbal, medicinal, earthy aroma with a touch of tartness and spice. Light Christmas cake and darker malts. Interesting.
Fruit cake in a glass. Rich and fruity with a distinct "cakey" malt note. Good, appropriate spicing with notes of nutmeg, clove and anise with a touch of raisin and brandy. This ticks the boxes it sets out to tick.
Medium-full body with moderate carbonation. Quite lush really.
A nice, rounded Christmas ale. The fruit cake character is actually quite impressive.

This pours a dark brown with a smallish beige head.
The aroma? Well Xmas cake actually, which isn't a surprise given the cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and allspice that's been added to the brew. Love it.
Dark fruits and cocoa on the palate. Some sweetness.
Medium bodied.
This isn't the first time that I've had this and I've found it works much better with food: pudding or cake.
