On tap at the brewpub on 7/12/09. Served in a pint glass.
Pours a murky deep amber/near brown, with a finger of solid eggshell white colored head. A smooth creamy covering of foamy leaves a solid cascade of patchy lacing back. English hops jump out immediately in the aroma, with a lightly spicy and citric presence. Underlying toasted carmamel and some nuttiness adds some pleasant balancing sweetness to the equation. This was quite fresh in the nose.
That same hop character shines in the front of the taste as well, with a nice moderately spicy bite that mixes in well with a splash of citrus and toffeed sweetness, which possesses a nice roasty edge to it. This combines with the hops to really dry the finish out, along with some lingering residual sweetness. Very spicy and tangy overall taste to this. Nice. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a pretty crisp cabonation to it that runs the whole way through and fully compliments the spicy aspects of the flavor. Firm, yet easy feeling.
Pretty spot on for the style and a great way to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Mid-State Trial. Another well done beer from Elk Creek!

Brewed to celebrate and honor the 40th anniversary of the Mid-State Trail, a long distance hiking trail that passes nearby the pub.
A-Deep, slightly hazed, copper with a medium yellowish tinted cream/light tan head. Head reduces to a thin cap and leaves spotty lace.
S-Caramel malt sweetness with a nice backing from light earthy hop notes.
T-Fairly spicy upfront riding a top of brief wave of caramel malt sweetness. Palpable nuttiness on the tongue with a pleasant dry finish.
M-Medium-light body, fairly crisp yet soft at the same time, Lingering spicy bitterness with a residual brown sugar like sweetness.
D-Wonderfully solid, smooth and easy to drink. Plenty of flavour without being heavy. Dry, astringent finish is very pleasant. A quality beer that honors the MST well, nice job, once again, Tim Y!
