The Ærø Christmas Ale “Strong Rudolph” is a classic among Christmas beers. Despite its relatively high alcoholic strength, the taste is free from the fragrance that often affects alcoholic Christmas beers. It is brewed with water, Pale Ale barley malt, wheat flour, roasted barley malt, caramel barley malt, yeast, sugar and spiced with E.K Golding hops and English First Gold hops added during a two-stage boiling process. This combination results in a Christmas ale with lots of character, high occasion mood and full of taste – without artifice.
“Strong Rudolph” is beautiful and dark red in the glass, creating a mood and a Christmas joy to almost any occasion. Do not cheat yourself and your favorite people from a tasting which gives red cheeks, prompts Christmas lights and a broad smile.

Copenhagen 13/11 2015. 50 cl bottle from SuperBrugsen. Dark red label in the usual Ærø-brand design. By the way, quite strange to give a beer "Strong Rudolph" as a nickname when the beer only has an alcohol percentage of 7 %.
Pours dark copper brown with ab off-white head. Settles as a 0,3 cm thick layer of foam jus covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing on the side of the glass.
Aroma is sweetish with caramel, raisins and something burnt. Free of Christmas spice.
Medium strong carbonation and oily palate. Lightly tingling texture.
Flavor has some sweetness but it is nicely balanced by a pronounced bitterness. Roasted malts and caramel balanced by coffee and hops.
It might only be a semi strong Rudolph but it is a decent Christmas Beer.
