On tap in Queenstown, pours amber with good head and lacing. This has a lot of interesting hoppiness -- a little grapefruit, but then some peach, which is interesting, and some more earthy/grassy/fruity notes. A little heavy and dirty with the hops, but nice biscuity bready malt base. Definitely still in pale territory, and not quite big enough or caramel enough to be a hoppy amber. Though it says it's supposed to be modeled on an American west-coast pale, I'm glad that this one plays to the NZ hops...which make it pretty distinctive. This is a good beer, it's got a unique profile, and I'd be happy to be able to drink it again.
