Draft only offering at the Spring House Taproom. Served in a half pint, the brew appears black in color with a rich, dark mocha head that leaves patchy lace as it receeds.
The aroma includes noted of cocoa and roast. Quite earthy almost like coffee with a really nice appeal and balance. The pepper and other adjunct inclusion though is hardly acknowledged.
The taste however is quite polar with an upfront shock of straight jalapeno pepper and huge spicy burn that dominates the base beer. Faint nuance of roast and earth hide underneath with layers of pepper flavoring throughout.
This is a medium to lighter bodied brew with ample carbonation. Honestly, the jalapeno addition was so over-done that it dominated and crushed your ability to taste anythin else in this. I could not finish my pour.
