16 oz can
Date: ???
Consumed on: 23 Nov, 2022
Glass: Imperial Pint
ABV: 7.8% ABV
Serving Temp: 51.7 F
Look:
Very dark brown to black with a light brown head. The head starts at 2+ fingers high and then dissipates fairly rapidly to a ring and filmy island cover. Little lacing.
Smell:
Lightly roasted malts with a hint of char. Coffee and some semi-sweet chocolate notes. A dark fruit aroma flirts in the background. Interestingly, I get no coconut aromas. The nose is actually somewhat muted.
Taste:
Follows the nose. There is an additional somewhat sour, funky note here that I did not expect.
Feel:
Slick and a bit oily. The body is medium-light at best.
Overall:
I wonder if my sample went bad and/or is too old. Something is definitely amiss. I cannot detect any coconut and I get that sour funky note in the taste. I have had this beer at Springhouse and liked it well enough then.

Draft offering at Spring House appears black in color with a khaki head. Some cola brown clarity is noted around the edges.
The nose is fairly muted but some sweetness and coconut comes through as it warms up and breathes along with a slight note of chocolate.
The taste is bright with coconut, almost perfume-like and oily. There is plenty of bitter cocoa roast and coffee into the aftertaste.
This is medium to lighter in body with moderate to low carbonation with warming alcohol feel. Not bad, not great either.
