16 oz can from Tavour. Pours out a rich ruby color with light pink frothy head. Aroma features milky notes, along with some light biscuit malts. Taste comes on fierce, bitter, then sweet then dry. Seems more tart cherries than sweet. Lactose evident underneath. Not as sweet as i would have imagined.

I am slowly closing out any relationship with this local brewery. I have had too many misdealings with ownership & management to want to give them my CANtinued business, but CANs CANtinue to surface out of the backlog. At some point, The CANQuest (tm) will finally turn the page and close the book on these cats. Until then …
From the CAN: "Spundae Milkshake IPA"; "Citra leaf hops, vanilla beans & sweet cherry purée".
Oh, good. CANother misidentified beer! It is an NEIPA, which is how I will be CANsidering it during my review. A ChANge Request will be sent when I am done.
I Crack!ed open the vent & despite its labeling, I beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass in the hope that some clarity might result. When this became a foregone CANclusion, I stepped up the pace & let it run freely. This led to the formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, pinkish-white head with very good retention. It kind of resembled freshly-spun cotton CANdy, but its color was lighter than that. Color was a hazy pinkish-Amber (SRM = N/A). Nose held an odd mélange with the sweet cherry clashing with the Citra hops. Hmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was oddly bitter, given the inclusion of vanilla beans & sweet cherry purée. The odd man out was the use of Citra hops when other varieties might have been more CANplementary. This beer is an exemplar of their inherent problem - they tend to throw a mishmash of ingredients together & hope for the best. Innovation is one thing, but when it CANsistently produces lousy results, then I have no problem letting go of the rope in this tug-of-war. If this was meant to mimic an ice cream sundae, then it failed miserably! The sweetness was totally marred by the Citra bitterness. Pheh. Finish was dry & bitter, but also very unpleasant. I would have drain-poured it, except that goes against on of The CANQuest's (tm) main tenets. YMMV. I certainly hope so. 8=p
