Received in a trade with DIM on 3-8-23. Canned 1-10-23; consumed 8-16-23.
Beer poured black with a nice tan head.
Nose is very nice as a huge malt base and vanilla greets my olfactory senses with a generous dose of hopping lingering in the background promising to balance this beast out.
Taste is really well done with the huge malt base expertly given a small dose of vanilla to complement and not dominate. Getting some subtle plum sprinkled with brown sugar. The finish brings a dose of alcohol heat and some citrus forward hopping that does a great job of giving this an edge with each sip.
Mouthfeel is bit thin for how big this brew is, medium bodied and silky smooth.
Overall i thought this was barrel aged after my first sip given the alcohol heat with a nice touch of vanilla but after looking at the label it was just a big American barleywine that is nicely done!

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours very black but with the typical consistency of a barleywine. Almost no head. The nose is splendid. Blackberries, blueberry pie, quite a bit of vanilla, caramel, and a nice layer of glazed doughnuts. Can't wait to sip this one!
The taste is fantastic. The vanilla comes through right away, and it's definitely one of the most (if not THE most) dominant flavors on this one. I love vanilla, so this is just fine with me. This is accompanied by lovely smooth notes of blueberry, toffee, slight maple, vanilla chocolate, and a hint of plum. So easy to drink and the ABV seems non-existent. Another dangerous brew!
The mouthfeel is medium bodied and the aftertaste is mostly vanilla and dark fruit. Lovely barleywine!

This is pretty dang good. I didn't love this at the first sip, but I pretty quickly changed my mind. Sweet up with caramel, faint dark fruits, and plenty of well incorporated vanilla. The vanilla has an earthy edge to it which helps keep this from becoming too sweet and that's good because it lasts into the finish which adds drier notes of light char and dark chocolate. Happy to have bought this pack.
