Although the pour that emptied a pint can into a clear glass liter mug produced some nearly stark white foam, it wasn't to excess. Unfortunately, what foam there was receded unevenly and unattractively. The color of the brew is light copper-amber, not bright, yet not dull and not opaque, but not translucent. There's a solid aroma of earthiness from the combination of hops and malt. It tastes a little blandly, yet it's full flavored. The hops are there, but they don't bite. The malt is there, but it adds no real complexity. It's not green, but it seems that a little more time in the vat might have added more complex layers, since this is basically alright. The mouthfeel is a little thin, albeit smooth. Again, aging might have improved that aspect, too. Overall, it's at best an average AIPA, probably slightly better than that for those that like their IPAs a little earthy and somewhat malty.
