On cask at South Street July 17th, 2008. Never seen it there before.
Appearance: A deep chocolate brown with light garnet hues around the edges. A foamy one-finger head with a solid, unyielding sheet of lacing. Casked effect makes it look phenomenal.
Aroma: Mild, lightly roasted coffee and plenty of milk chocolate. Hops are also present - Cascade? There's a definite tart citrus quality present here.
Taste: Much the same, with sweet chocolate and lightly roasted coffee-esque malts, orange peel, and lightly spicy hops. Tastes like a slightly pumped up Porter's Porter in many ways.
Mouthfeel: Rather thin for a stout, though the carbonation it moderate and fairly even.
Drinkability: A fairly average beer, though by no means bad, and one that (IMO) was helped tremendously by the fact that it was caksed. Likely wouldn't be so hot on a regular tap. It's not offensive in any way though, and is worth a try if you can find it there.
