I stopped at the Old Baldy Brewery on my way home from Riverside and came across this one on tap. It wasn't listed on the menu and it wasn't on the wall but the girl behind the counter told me about it. Not sure exactly about the availibility but I've been there 3 times over the course of a year and this is the first time I've seen it.
It was poured into a pint glass and was a nice clear pour with a good amount of foam. The foam was brownish and it died off quickly. The beer was a typical black lager color, as in it was black but it allowed light through. There was some nice redness coming through when held up to the light.
It smelled about like a beer of this style should; it had some coffee and some malt sweetness to it. The taste was pretty much like the smell. Very crisp and refreshing but not overly inspiring. It seemed like your run of the mill german schwarzbier. Drinkable and was good with the seasoned fries that I was eating while watching the world series at the bar.
