Im not really into brown ales, but I make it a point to try everything. In any case, this was poured on tap at the brewery, which is about the only way to get these beers, and it poured a nice dark amber color with a lot of clarity. The smell was an interesting mixture of chocolate and coffee and an odd addition of a chlorine smell. The first two are fine but the third really threw me off and ruined it for me.
The taste was similar to the smell, half good half bad, half brown half chemical. Overall it averages out to OK. It did however have a nice body to it. Definately an ale. This is a drinkable beer, definately unique.

Brown ales are not near my favorite style of beer but this poured a pretty clear light maple syrup color and the taste was outstanding. There was a toasted malt character to it, but the main flavor that got me was the great amount of chocolate that came through, which really made it interesting compared to other browns i've had.

This tapped ale presents with a deep brown hue and a thin tan lace. The spicy yeasty aroma possesses a hint of roast. The initial flavor is berry-like in yeasty fruitiness with a very round, smooth mouthfeel. There is a definitive bit of sour present throughout the brew, that if intentional is quite interesting, if not is quite off and may identify a problem deeper within the system.

This is a beautiful dark ruby red/brown brew with a decent tan head and great lacing. Definitely is clear, but very dark, passing very little light, but with great deep red highlights. This beer displayed good lacing throughout the glass and was very smooth to the palate. The nose is full of smoky nuttiness and is somewhat stronger as it warms from the tap coolness. The taste is full of coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel is good, but somewhat more watery than anticipated. Good bitter finish.
