Nitro pour at the source served in a sort of goblet shaped snifter of sorts. The brew is black in color with a khaki head that fades leaving a wall of spotty lace. For being a nitro pour, I was surprised to see that the head did not have the typical lasting strength their other nitro pours offer.
The nose is dominated by freshly roasted coffee. All roasty, earthen and charred up in an enjoyable way with slight citrus notes towards the back as it warms up.
The taste is bitter roast, coffee, char and some citrus bite like the nose suggests. This is surprisingly simple and clean tasting without the depth of malt flavor I was hoping for.
This is light bodied and moderate to lightly carbonated. Its good but I dont know if i like it all that much better than the base (extra stout.) Very peculiar how it is on nitro but doesnt feel like it is as the head dissolves fast and the feel doesnt have that typical creaminiess. Nonetheless a solid brew.
