First trip to Selin's Grove Brewing Company today. Sampled a variety of their beers. Unfortunately didn't get to try the IPA or Stealth but enjoyed everything i did get to try. Settled on the Organic Pale Ale to bring home.
Pours a orange amber color with an ok off white head. Head was much better on the one i had at the brewery so it didn't travel well. You can smell the citrus and pine notes of the hops right up front. Taste is also dominated by the hops with more of an earthy note followed by a drying bitter finish. Overall a nice beer. It maybe pushes the envelope of a Pale Ale and approaches IPA level but that isn't a bad thing in my book. Some might be surprised a little by the high bitterness level. Was impressed with Selin's Grove on the whole and will certainly make it back there again.

I was able to finally hit SGBC this past weekend and wanted a growler of their IPA. Sadly, it was out...so I got a growler of this. Weighing in around 6% with all organic ingredients, it poured a hazy honey-auburn in color. Thick, sticky off-white head sits about 1-finger in thickness and creates layer after layer of lace during the multiple pints I had. Aromas are a mixture of grassy/earthen hops and some estery fruits. Solid sweetness supports the booming hop flavors. Sweetness picks up a tad in the middle and is washed away by the dry, powdery bitter finish. Didn't take me long to empty this (first of many) growler. Slick and somewhat chewy mouthfeel. The attenuated carbonation was a plus for me. Monstrously drinkable. Close to their IPA in the overall impression, but I wouldn't pass this one up.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
