It’s my understanding that this has been released sporadically before but this is my first time having the opportunity to try it during a recent visit. This is the shade mountain oatmeal stout with a treatment of cocoa nibs, vanilla beans and bourbon. Served via a footed pils/pub glass and im not quite sure but it looks like nitro might be the gas delivery on this one.
It appears dark brown to black with a froth of silky khaki head that slowly fades painting the glass with patches of lace.
The aroma is a little mineral laden upfront with citrusy and earthen roast appeal. Unfortunately the mineral/carbonic character is the leading trait to this which distracts not only from the base beer but whatever adjuncts they added as well.
It tastes leathery with earthen roast, char, bakers coco, coffee to citrus-like hops and slight mineral/carbonic character like the nose lead on.
This is light in body with modest carbonation. Well, its decent but seems a little off and a rare miss from SGB. The base beer is much better than what they did here, really was not able to notice the adjuncts much.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
