A-Copper with a thin off-white head that reduces to a thin ring leaving no lace.
S-Faint sweet malt and a bit of hops...not too much going on here.
T-More on the palate than in the aroma. Slightly sweet with a decent hopbite. Nothing crazy, very easy going.
M-Medium body with the low carbonation smoothness of a cask pushed brew.
D-Non-offensive, smooth and easy going session brew. Maybe just a bit too plain for my liking. I would appreciate a bit more punch.

Served via cask at the brewpub.
Pours a clear dark cranberry with a finger of creamy off-white head. A fantastic looking layer of creamy retention yields a huge cascade of lace down the sides of the glass. The aroma is bit subdued but what I do pick up is some heavier malts, vanilla sweetness, yeast, a touch of floral hops, and some fairly prominant accents of raspberry fruitiness.
The taste is similar to the aroma, being predominantly a silky malt sweetness with notes of spice, more raspberry fruit notes, and just a bit of a hop profile in the backend. The mouthfeel has a light to medium body with a smooth, creamy, and easygoing feel from the cask conditioning.
This was my first time trying one of these cask amalgamations from Steve & Heather and I was shocked at how well this one worked. You could definitely pick up some notes from St. Fillian's, their Raspberry Porter that was one earlier in the year, and one or two different IPAs. Very nice for being a hodge podge beer and for only costing $2.50 a pint. Cheers!

Another new Winning Jar Ale on cask at SGB on 7/12/08.
A - Chestnut brown body with burgundy highlights and half a finger of creamy beige head that left quite a bit of sticky lacing on the glass.
S - Nutty and roasted malts with a whiff of fresh raspberry and a hint of mild vanilla. Light, mellow hops in the nose reminiscent of their IPA, but more subdued and in the background. Bit of alcohol twang as well.
T - Amalgamation of their raspberry porter, IPA and Scottish Ale... at least that's my guess! This brew is chock full of malts, with caramel and nutty notes. There's also a bit of hops in the back with mild hints of pine and grass. Raspberry and vanilla come out in the flavor as well.
M - Medium body with smooth, velvety texture, perhaps just a tad watery. Finish is only mildly bitter and doesn't linger on the palate at all.
D - Cask ale from SGB? Bring it on! These are always tasty, and a super deal at only $2.50 for a pint! Nice concoction of past SGB brews. Yum!
