I met Josh (owner/brewer) about a year ago when he was getting Brewer's in gear. Visited twice so far, the most recent to chat with Josh and the famous (or infamous, depending on you POV) Ding.

Brewer's is brand new in a nice retro-looking brick strip building located in a shopping center about a mile N of the downtown. The look is industrial-techno, not my favorite style but a nice change from the "renovated warehouse" look so many brewpubs seem fond of. Very airy inside. They have a patio which should be great as soon as the murderous heat of summer in the coastal SE wanes.

As far as the food goes, I've only ordered two appetizers, the crab tips and nachos. Both were good and certainly worth the money.

Sampled 3 beers to this point, the porter, stout and IPA. All very worthy, both the porter and stout were very creamy and rich, the IPA had a nice sweet/bitter bite which I love. Not a fan of Wits, so I haven't tried that. APA's and Lights are too "vanilla" for me so I haven't sampled them either.

If you have the luxury to pick your visiting time, call ahead to go when Josh will be there. He's always glad to talk beer with other geeks and is the perfect brewpub host. Also, try to hit the cask ale on Fridays, but don't get there late; I understand it goes quickly.

Since SC just recently popped the cap, Brewer's is most welcome and easily the best brewpub fpr miles. Beaufort itself is a great tourist stop, still has the sleepy coastal town look that is rapidly disappearing in the SE. Hit Brewer's for lunch, then tour Beaufort & Paris Island and come back to brewer's for some afternoon refreshment.

The place was tough to find. The sign was in front of one plaza (that had a Verizon and a Moe's), but the actual brewery was a block or two away (in the Bi-Lo plaza).

The place looks cool. Very modern and clean. The atmosphere is also good and is comfortable in the small establishment. It's laid back, quiet, and it's very easy to relax here.

As far as the beers go - nothing bad, but nothing great-very average. There were 5 beers on tap, with the Brickyard IPA missing (they ran out). If I had to recommend any, I'd try the Parris Island Oatmeal Porter or the Whale Branch Wit. Both of these are ok. The others were forgettable.

I wanted to note that the cask is only in operation on Friday nights.

I was a little irritated to find out (after lugging a growler from 12 hours away) that they only fill their own growlers. I normally can accept breweries only filling their own growlers, but this place goes out of its way to promote how "green" it is... I assumed (my bad) that a place that boasted it was this green, that it would actually want to protect the environment a bit and be happy to fill other growlers... just hit me as a bit odd and hypocritical.

Kudos to Brewers for having some copies of Beer Advocate Mag on the bar for viewing purposes.

The best advice I could give is this... If you are bored out of your mind and are looking for time to kill, stop here. If you want decent beer, go to the nearby Applebee's or Outback and grab the Sammy Seasonal...

Also, hit this place in the early afternoon... It was very packed on Wednesday night at 7:00 for wing night...

place is located in the back end, kida behind some stores in a strip mall. A bit difficult to find.
Atmosphere was nice. Decor is ultra modern..not really used to that in a brew pub. very nontraditional.
All the beers I sampled were very good, fresh and well presented.
Was met by owner/brewer Josh and he talked beer with us and took us on a tour of his brewhouse. Very accomodating and the place was nice. Josh seems to be a top notch guy.
Ordered wings to snack on and they were very good...although the only negative was they took an awefull long time to make.
Cool place that I hope to visit again
