From tasting notes 10/05/17, had on-tap at HopCat in Grand Rapids, MI
Appearance - Served up in a nonic pint, nigh black with a bit of cola brown edging where light can shine through. A razor thin, consistent layer of suds sits atop. Lacing is fair, mostly broken lines and spotting.
Smell - Chocolate and roasted malt, along with a hint of espresso. Hints of earthy hop character.
Taste - Follows the nose. Sweet upfront with a chocolatey kick before the roasty underbelly emerges by mid-taste, adding a nice mocha-like balance in the finish.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Texture lives up to the name with a silky, velvety character before a slightly dry finish.
Overall - An excellent example of your classic American Stout. It's not unique, to say the least, but it also does not disappoint.
