Bily Kun is conveniently located just a few blocks "west" of the Mont-Royal métro stop on Avenue Mont-Royal. The name of the place comes from Czech, meaning "white horse". Guessing from that, you can expect to walk into the place and feel a Czech vibe. Very classy atmosphere inside, love the lit candles and dim lights which guide your sight inside this dark place. Piano music plays overhead as your eyes are drawn to the ostrich heads that stick out of one of the walls. But eventually, it will be time to order a drink.

15 drafts are listed on the chalkboard above the bar, almost all of it being regionally brewed beer. On tap during my visit (December 16) they had Boréale, L'Alcheimist, Cheval Blanc (which ironically means white horse in English), Unibroue, and McAuslan's, just to name a few. They have beer by the bottle too, such as Brasseur RJ. To fit the theme, they have a few Czech beers sold in the bottle as well (Pilsner Urquell, Czechvar, Starobrno).

As is the case with most of the bars in the Latin Quarter, prices are at their best earlier in the day (before 8pm). I sampled a ten ounce draft of St-Ambroise Oatmeal Stout for just $2.75 during my visit. But the surrounding of the bar seem to go better when it's dark outside, so it's up to you whether to splurge a few extra quarters. Whenever you plan to come over, you won't be let down at Bily Kun.
