Pours amber, light lacing., not much head.

Never smelt anything like it. Funk notes mixed with a sweet citrusy thing going on, spices, breadiness. Like a traditional gueuze with pineapple added. The bacteria is all over this.

Taste is easier to process than the nose. Sweet fruit and citrus notes mixed with acidic bacteria notes. Quite pungent but not overwhelming. Not a beginner sour.

Mouthfeel is light and airy.

An interesting beer. A 13+ year old Italian sour. Was fun to age. Not bad.

Been hanging onto this for a while.

Very herbal aroma. Spruce tips, pine, juniper. There is just a touch of acidity. Dries it out and gives it a rustic touch. Overall there isn't a ton of sour character, perhaps age has cleaned this up.... Regardless a tasty saison like beer.

2006 version (I guess we're reviewing it here then).
Shared by--I think--ShanePB. Thanks!

Hazy, golden-amber pour with a small cap of off-white head that sank to a ringlet. In the aroma: citrus, grass, pale malts. Taste was mildly sour, nothing huge, but nicely balanced, citrusy, grassy, a bit of earthy spice in there as well, and a slight oak profile, backed by a biscuity pale malt base. Medium body, and easily drinkable. Not mind-blowing, but a nice treat for sure.

Bottle from 2006 sour edition. Purchased at Joe Canal's in jersey on clearance for $14.01!!

A-coppery orange color with 2 finger fluffy white head that sticks around for some time.

S-almost has a wine smell, like chardonnay grapes with a grassiness that is intoxicating. sourness funk too more of the grassy kind not horse blanket.

T-much like the smell. Add some lemony and peppery to that though. Very clean and crisp.

M-very clean and crisp, very drinkable. No alcohol heat present. Great Beer!! May go back for the other 3 bottles left.

****This is the 2006 Edition, apparently only 13 cases made it to America. I was lucky to stumble across one at Oak Tree Buy Rite in New jersey.****

Baladin Nora 2006 Sour Edition
750ml poured into snifter at 50-55 degrees

Appearance: Glowing golden orange, hazy body with huge, exuberant carbonation, that quickly disipates into a thin off white ring.

Nose: Orange blossoms and citrus soda dominate the nose up front, very faint wet grass on the tail end. I already feel refreshed just smelling this.

Mouthfeel: fuller mouth feel than I was expecting. Light, fizzing carbonation clean and lighten the palate after that first initial tongue coating.

Taste: The orange blossom and citrus notes continue to dominate the palate, finally the little sour notes come through, almost like a peachy, tangerine kind of tart. Oak comes through just to hi at the end, balancing it out and leaving your mouth with a refreshing pucker to keep you coming back for more.

Overall: This might be one of my new favorite sours. The nose makes you feel like you are in an orange field, while the taste was perfectly balanced, clean, and super refreshing. I wish there was more to go around!

Cole's Italian tasting. Grapefruit colour, white head with a lot of bubbly head bubbles of all sizes, and lacing. A sourness that you get used to, but still is tough on the tongue. Carbonation is there. Sugar there malting it, and spices. As saison more than a saison. The sour and spicy is interesting and complex, not possible to drink too much of.

Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with golden burnt orange hues when held to a light source and a 2 finger fizzy white head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Minimal lacing.

Slightly tart earthy funk aroma with a bit of oaky tannis and crisp fruit notes. Not as much horseblanket barnyard funk as I prefer but rather has a much more prominent fruit presence, especially dark cherry, raspberry and strawberry estery notes.

Tart sour funk up front that is not strong enough but lingers throughout. Again, there is a lot of crisp golden fruit notes and a creamy medium body but not enough funkiness going on. Hints of apple, pear, cherry, strawberry and other dark berries. A bit too sweet with a slightly dry finish. I really enjoyed the Supra Sour Edition but thought that this one was average.

At Max's Ravens and Rare beer event last Sunday.

Hary orange with a thin white head with good retention.

Nose is very herbal and delicate with some spice, jasmine, rosemary and rose water. Very floral with a great herbal character, there's some honey and mild sweetness. Sour? Not so much, but this is one unique beer

Very very herbal and floral with a lot of green tea flavor with mild tartness in the back, this just isn't very sour. Rose and jasmine, with some sage spice character. Dry on the finish with a mild tartness, a touch of white pepper and some tea-like astringency, this is good stuff. Light in body with high carbonation, the long, flavorful finish make for one easy to drink beer, one that I can see going VERY well with food.
