A dark brown beer, reminiscent of a monk’s tunic, it has a thick and persistent head.

The scents of roasted hazelnut are complemented by notes of roasted cereals and nuts.

The taste is fulfilling and smooth and, once again, is full of aromas of roasted cereals, cocoa and Italian roasted hazelnuts from the Langhe region.

A delicious treat to round off your meal on cold Christmas evenings.

This is an interesting drink. I never had a Baladin anything, so maiden voyage here we go. It’s a very pretty drink. Clear light chestnut color, loads of carbonation, pillowy vanilla bean ice cream head that laces the full glass as I drink it down. The box says “ hazelnut” about ten times. Guess what? This is all about the hazelnut. Aroma is hazelnut, some leather, 50’s crushed velvet. The taste is like pressed hazelnuts, with a tiny bit of savory malt, vanilla, a tinge of flat musty almost Belgian yeast quality. Alcohol is hidden. Mouthfeel is ultra creamy in the nucleated glass. The only drawback is the cork. They were serious about corking this bottle. Im talking literally ten minutes of wrangling to get that thick tapered monster out.

750 ml waxed and corked bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8.5%. Very dark brown colour, small beige head. Distinct aroma of malts and roasted nuts, particularly hazelnuts. Also hints of dark dried fruits. Medium sweet flavour, malty (some caramel) with notes of said nuts, hints of dark dried fruits again, low bitterness.
