On tap at several places around Houston. Cottonwood and D&T most recently.
A: Pours a slightly hazed golden/yellow color. A two finger pillowing white head rises and sticks around for a good while. Plenty of spiderweb looking lace is left behind.
S: Lager yeast up front and center. Cereal grains for sure. Saaz hops in the finish. Floral, herbal, grassy hops. Lingering bitterness. Simple and very nice.
T: That lager yeast is up front and center again. Mineral like with cereal grains, and a Saaz hop finish. Floral and grassy, light citrus, herbal green tea like. Once you get past the initial mineral quality, this is very nice.
M/D: A light to medium body. Perfectly crisp and dry. Smooth and refreshing at the same time. Easy to drink. I can, and have had several in a sitting.
A very nice lager. Well done Southern Star, I have been a little disappointed with a lot of your recent releases. This has a big mineral and yeast quality that is a bit strong at first. Though with the malty/grainy flavor and Saaz hops, a very good example of the style and recommended.
