We're proud to present the third installment of our Art Can Series, Half Nelson IPA! Our Art Can Series features artwork from a local artist for each release, and we are proud to feature the artwork of our very own Southern Star associate, Keith Amador for this can!
The beer itself is a crisp, floral IPA made with half Nelson Sauvin hops (hence the name) and half Mosaic hops. It will be available on tap starting at the release party at the brewery on January 13th, 2017, as well as specialty cans hitting the shelves donned in Keith Amador's luchador design.

Poured from a can into a tulip glass. Orangish yellow color with a decent head and lacing. Floral and citrus smell. Flavor of orange and pineapple. Overall not bad and good with fajitas.

Really enjoyed drinking this beer, by far the best Southern Star (at least in my opinion) that i;ve had yet. Beautiful pour, golden color, hints of honey and mango.. delicious! Great balance

Probably my favorite thing from Southern Star. Beautiful color, great mouthfeel, well balanced hop/malt ratio. The only drawback is a slightly muted smell, not unpleasant, just not as remarkable as the rest.

Poured from can into tulip, 2 finger cream colored head hangs around a while and nice lacing. Bright yellowish orange in the glass, yeast particles visible. Smells of dankish pine/pineapple, mango, not much malt coming thru on the nose, strong in the hop sense. Taste is initially sweet malt, not complex, not in your face, somewhat simplistic getting heavy pine/pineapple. Getting some floral notes on the tail end, and it has a crisp, semi sweet finish, low bitterness. Mouthfeel on this beer is something, not heavy syrupy like most borderline IPA's, it is rather light and easily drinkable. This could be a very dangerous beer, drinks like a way lower than 7.2%. No detectable alcohol. One of the best beers I have had from Southern Star in a while. Nice job
