Can from Whole Foods-Lamar. Mild, smooth, but the Imperial nature comes on late, lingering bitterness and mild burn. Chocolate, coffee, burnt toast, the usual suspects

Pours dark brown from 16oz can. Looks relatively thin. Single finger, light tan head of tiny bubbles, no lacing.

Smell is bourbon and vanilla, hints of booze. Little carbonation and thin mouth feel (for a BA stout), but it's slick and somewhat chewy.

Tastes like it smells, mostly bourbon with vanilla and some chocolate in the finish. Not much bitterness to balance out the sweetness, but its not overwhelming. Some heat at the finish, probably more than expected for only 8.25% abv.

Overall, this is a really nice bourbon aged stout. Its a little hot for the relatively low abv, but all in all its pretty solid.

My all time favorite beer. I have to buy it wherever I find it, even if it costs $25 a pop, like it did today but it is worth every penny. I wasn't expecting a can after buying the bottle last year buy that hasn't affected the taste one bit. The Buried Hatchet is a winner in its own right but theres something about it being aged in a bourbon barrel that just knocks it out of the park. I admit I'm a sucker for anything aged in a bourbon barrel but this is by far the best.

Found this canned at the local shop. Had it a few years back and it was a bottle. Recall loving it then, let's see about now.
Pours a nice black with a rich ring of head and some stuck-on lace.
Smells like coffee, chocolate char and bourbon barrel.
Taste is plenty of bourbon and roasted chocolate, with a slight burn.
Feels perfectly thick, creamy/ full, nicely carbonated, slightly chewy.
A great stout to revisit. It's also a nice change to have a fine bourbon barrel-aged beer that's under the 9-12% range that they tend to be.

The 2015 canned version of this beer is a big improvement over last years. Look is pitch black with a slim light tan head thats consistent while drinking. Smell is more boozy then prior versions (which I prefer in a BBA). Other flavors include chocolate, some minimal spice, coffee, and the bourbon is definitely present as well. Feel is thick and heavier then previous versions (if my memory is 100% accurate).

This beer is definitely worth purchasing and I think will age much better the previous versions. Also, I think putting this beer in a can has done wonders!
