Picked up a single can of this at the H-E-B in Lubbock, Texas when I was down that way a few months back. Never had this before, nor had I ever reviewed anything from Southern Star, and this was pretty much what I expected from start to finish.
Hazy and golden, this had a bit of a shine to it although it could been brighter. Plenty of head to it as it settled somewhat quickly, only leaving a rings of foam at the surface. Very little lacing left behind as most of that slid down after each sip. Grain, bread, adjunct, and potato chip were in the subdued nose as the taste was a bit soapy and slick. Faint hop oils were present, but without any bitterness or burn whatsoever.
To be fair, I didn't expect much from this and this turned out to be a decent take on an American Adjunct Lager. No date was to be found anywhere and the same could nearly be said for the alcohol. This was a step above something mass-market but in the end, this would be a fine beer to mindlessly kick back with any time of the year.

Medium gold, white head.
Sweet malt, floral, bread dough, doesn’t smell very light.
Malty but not overly sweet, it’s still sweet but not overpowering. Not a lot of hops going on. I’d guess the IBU around 7 to 10. I’m rather dubious with this beer. It says 95 calls, 2.8 carbs, and 4.5 abv. It’s pretty good for what it’s advertised as, I just doubt their numbers.
