On tap at Paddy Long's in Chicago. 5 oz pour in a shooter.
Pour: Muddy brown, with some copper edges. A creamy tan head. Leaves some decent lacing.
Smell: A lot of oak right up front. Some rye, and hints of warm whiskey. A touch of caramel and toffee.
Taste: Tart overripe cherries, and lots of oak. A light warm touch of whiskey. Lots of vanilla and toffee. Finishes with chewy dark fruits and a touch of tartness.
Mouthfeel: Pretty light. A touch of alcohol warmth, but very, very slight.
Overall. Interesting beer. Okay, but probably wouldn't have it again

A: dark brown, but still a little translucent. Served with a nice fluffy light mocha colored head that reduces down to thin surface coating. Leaves some light lacing.
S: aroma is very interesting and fairly complex. Slight green apple sourness mixed with an indeterminate booziness and a light note of vanilla.
T: Taste is similar, but comes off as less balanced. Dark fruity malts, mild, but still assertive sourness. Then comes the barrel flavor, mostly a nondescript wood flavor and a little vanilla. Finish is a light sweet dark maltiness and a little more tartness.
M: medium bodied, tart, mild astringent bitterness.
O: okay, so ill admit I haven't much familiarity with the style, never mind a BA version. However this is a very curious beer. Enjoyable none the less
