Business trip to Bronckhorster brewery and this is the brewers proud; hopped with Cascade, Citra, Chinook, Summit and Waimea; Especially drip, cruel grapefruit, a bit of a volatile taste

Dark orange colour with light orange hue and a good head of foam. Smell of grapefruit, pine, caramel and yeast. The taste has lots of caramel and pine. In fact, due to the caramel, it kinda reminds me of a dutch herfstbok. Combination works for me though: a nice funky twist on the imperial IPA style. It drinks very easily: it is well hopped, but doesn't taste as bitter as most DIPA's.

Beautiful beer, rather refreshing in a certain way.

Pretty classic double IPA, beautiful golden/honey shine. Good head retention, strong hoppy smell & flavor. Drinks remarkably easy, lighter than most DIPAs.

Got this one at the MITRA down the road.
From a bottle into a snifter
IBU: 92
Best Before 13 November 2015
Quintuple hopped with cascade, citra, chinook, summit and waimea.
APPEARANCE: Pours a huge, four finger, loose and foamy, off-white head with excellent retention. Perfectly clear burnt orange in color with medium levels of carbonation. Head slowly fades to a frothy and foamy cap and leaves chunks of lacing down the sides of the glass. A foamy film remains until the end leaving lots of foamy lace down the sides. Good body, but lousy, frothy head for the style.
SMELL: Very grassy with hay on the nose as well. Some caramel sweetness with spicy aromas, but a touch of funk in there that is rather out-of-place. Different, but not necessarily in a good way.
TASTE: Grassy again, with hay and funky flavors up front. More fresh cut grass at the swallow with hay, bitter floral hops and a bit of caramel sweetness. Spicy yeasty notes linger as well in the mild finish.
PALATE: Thinner body, light, with higher levels of carbonation. Creamy enough but goes down a little prickly and finishes rather dry. Too thin and carbonated.
OVERALL: This is like a funky, hoppy imperial saison. Not really my thing, though I could see how someone else might really enjoy this. For the style, it's definitely well below par, however. Pass.
