Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Clear yellow gold body pours a copious head, which reduces to a cap that lasts throughout, leaving some lacing. However, the design of this glass helps to restore the foam, it is a good glass for this beer.
Smells mainly of jenever (boozy and spicy), light malt, and green vegetable. Not so pleasant smelling, but not off-putting either.
This tastes like a belgian pale and is mildly sweet. The jenever dominates, adding botanical spice, and it tastes a little boozy, but that is a mind trick since it is only 5.5%. There is some vanilla and oak, some banana/tropical fruit. Noble hops add an earthiness and a light bitterness to the mainly sweet finish.
The body is medium, with a little viscosity. The mouthfeel is very smooth and creamy, with round carbonation bubbles.
I thought this was a good beer, but not outstanding for all the effort that went into making it. People who like jenever or tequila might be more enthusiastic.
