The idee of this beer is to re-create the original IPA as it was brewed around 18:30 in England. There are 4 versions aged for different amount of time in Oak barrels. My version was aged for 6 months. Smell is not hoppy, maybe faintly floral, the malt shines through the oakiness that gives some vanilla as well. Tastewise there is more hop flavor and bitterness, the caramel malt is strong as well, the oak can be identified but to me there is a dominant flavor of earthiness and tartness like a Brettanomyces character, maybe infected from the barrel. Now that would be very true to the original idea. Body is medium to thin, decent carbonation and some raspy hop experience.
Interesting concept, well executed. The more I drink it the more it grows on me. Give it a try if you see it
