17.6 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 11/2016. Pours lightly hazy deep golden color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of tart lemon, lime, orange peel, pineapple, peach, green apple, hay, straw, grass, pepper, musty funk, oak, cracker, bread, light honey, light vanilla, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky yeast, citrus/earthy hops, and oak barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of tart lemon, lime, orange peel, pineapple, peach, green apple, pepper, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, oak, cracker, bread, light honey, light vanilla, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy herbal hop/oaky/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, lime, orange peel, pineapple, peach, green apple, pepper, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, oak, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky yeast, citrus/earthy hops, and oak barrel flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Barrel aged Brett IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky yeast, citrus/earthy hops, and oak barrel flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours a beautiful hazy orange-peach color, with a small, soon collapsing head.

I can not lie, I am very excited to try my first barrel aged ipa, while I think this is the way to go, as The Dochter van de Korenaar never let me down so far.

Yields a very unique nose, with oakie, barrel branded malts among grassy, slightly fruity hops and a leathery sweetness. This sweetness is responsible for connecting the very different aromas, producing a wooden, doughy maltiness with a herbal bite to it.

Begins slightly sweet, with white bread malts and a sour tartness, which gets almost swallowed by musty wood. Both, sweet- and sourness, then get enhanced, due to a lively carbonation, resulting in slightly dry bitterness. The sour aspect works very well with that hoppy bitterness, evoking lime and citrus peel flavors, as well as unripe orange and grass - which got some earth still attached to it. The finish is on the sweeter side, with biscuity malts becoming present, resulting from the earth. Has a dry aspect to it, while the hops had only a short appearance, leaving more room for the oaken barrel, blending well into the malts.

17.6oz bottle - Barrel aged for 13 months with a Best Before Date of Nov. 2016.

Pours an opaque yellow/orange red grapefruit color with a quickly dissipating mostly white head. Smells of citrusy fruits and Belgium yeasts dominate the nose. First sip is super fruity just like Juicy Fruit Gum by Wrigley’s. It is a dead ringer for that sweet gum until a welcomed bitter flavor finishes the taste. Like all De Dochter beers, it is complex, creative, and unique. As it warms, more of the barrel comes thru and so does some sour tartness. Not much hops left after being in a barrel for 13 months but what is left is contributing to the beers nice bitter finish. Mouthfeel is spot on as it is beautifully carbonated. Pretty damn nice beer from one of my favorite Belgium breweries. The 6% ABV tastes higher in alcohol thanks to the barrel age flavors.
