A - Pours a medium garnet color with thin lacing.
S - I'm really at a loss for words on this nose. (I really am.)
T - Oak, fruity, some caramel presence.
M - Medium body with no carbonation.
O - This is a really odd beer for the style and trying to wrap my head around it.

Bottle from Etre Gourmet, served at home in a snifter glass.
Brown colour, medium off white head that fades quickly, just a bit of lacing.
Aroma of honey, wine, nuts, plums, raisins, vanilla.
Medium to full body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Sweet finish.
Taste of honey, vanilla, wine, plums.
Very good.

Solid mahogany brown with a thin, beige head. Smells like a proper not-fucking-around barleywine: Madeira, raisins, dried orange/Grand Marinier, brown sugar and a hint of dusty old leather-bound books. Tastes proper, too, with a dump truck full of raisins steeped in port, plenty of brown sugar, and mellow Christmas spice. There’s a distinct fruity-boozy whiff that alternately comes across like Armagnac or good-quality triple sec. This is a delicious beer that somehow delivers all the richness and complexity you would hope for from the style and the ABV, while remaining smooth and devilishly drinkable. An obvious choice for strong cheeses and perhaps a good candidate for my last meal.

Poured at a bottle share. Really nice brown color with limited head. Nice carbonation. Nose is caramel, red wine, and a nice malt backbone. Taste is slightly bitter, with nice notes of caramel, red wine and brown sugar. Not overly sweet. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Overall, a really nice barley wine.
